Mission Difficulty

Postby Assassin » 18 Jun 2015, 11:08

SO...what is your feel on the missions difficulty...?

My take:
All missions are easy on easy :)
Medium is not worth THE REWARD...difficulty just a little below HARD...may be worth it for platoon points...

ON HARD:
DDay is very hard...doable, but win ratio is low...play for fun
Stalingrad was reasonable, but became much harder lately (may be personal bad luck or some change to units/AI that made it harder)...lost 10 in a row and stopped trying...not fun anymore
IwoJima is the only one i can get a 50% win ratio right now and the only one worth the effort

Yep , medium is not much easier than hard , and so it is not worth the effort, I agree.

Stalin and Iwo hard are both doable , sometimes I had bad luck streaks and sometimes some lucky runs in a row.
Switched to dday recently which is the most difficult for me , always avoided it before^^
But the good thing about dday is that you get a guaranteed general pack and no nation specific pack.
So it is worth the bigger risk imo.

But in general I still think that missions are too easy and/or too rewarding.

Imo there should be no (or much less) platoon points for them.
Would stop the grind competition , this game has become.

In pack terms i think they are ok...but i agree that platoon points are too much.

I prefer PVP and i am playing PVE much more now...just because it is faster to get platoon points...
Our platoon has a lot of good PVP players that are playing PVE more...and even then we cant compete with PVE specialists...

Perhaps i am wrong about Stalingrad...but it seemed impossible to win the last times i played...and i won it lots of times before...

^^ I agree, mostly.

All Easy are indeed easy, but I still lose once in a while. I often play Easy D-Day or Iwo with my morning coffee (when I'm too groggy for anything else!).

Med Iwo and D-Day are tough! But I find Med S-Grad 'doable'. Especially now with the 2 improved cards there.

Like Toyyon says, Hard isn't much more difficult than Med, and the reward is much better! But getting a nation-pack when you have all their cards but 1 Legend means lots of selling off the duplicates. Hard D-Day is the most difficult.

Playing S-Grad, getting a General pack with a Russian Epic = Meh!

What can be done? Not everyone likes PvP, or buying packs with gold. And I'm still stuck on a Campaign level, although I haven't tried for a while...

If you dont like pvp. Stay away from pvp.
If you dont want to buy packs. Do missions.
You stuck on campaign....I lost context now somehow.

If you want competitive grinding. Then be happy, because this is the Status Quo.

@Assassin

Yeah , but isn't it a shame ?
Your platoon is full of awesome pvp warriors.
These guys are forced to grind if they want to compete in the platoon ranking.

@FS: The platoon system as it is really sucks...sorry , but I can hardly imagine that this was intended by you guys.

Agreed on most points raised in this thread:
- Medium difficulty is pointless
- Hard difficulty is too rewarding (should be 300-400 imho)
- General balance isn't good at least for Hard mode (~15% win for DDay, ~35% Stalingrad, ~50% Iwo)

I'd like to add something also:

Playing historical missions got me some nice cards and points for sure, but I'm now filled with good russian/japanese cards and it's getting really hard to obtain german/US/english cards. Because even if you're managing to get a General Pack (through the hard DDay mission or luck doing another), there is a good chance you'll still get a russian/japanese epic in the end. Or maybe I'm just really unlucky :D

It sounds right (at least to me) to have one mission for each faction (= reward oriented towards this faction), so players could:
- try factions (for new players) since you get a deck with pretty much the best cards of each nation
- focus on the playstyle/faction they like to play most
- have an easier time getting the cards they need

Yes we are...and i am playing much more PVE than i want...i would much more prefer PVP if the rewards were worth it...

It shows on my PVP victories...i sometimes have time for either a PVP or PVE match...and i end up doing PVE as it gives better rewards...

I am guessing some other players in my platoon do the same...

Just wanted to share some lights here, while I do think the discrepancies between platoon pts rewards could be a bit out of the line (we will review them with time to see if they can be tuned), I do think the Platoon System, now that it seems to be almost steady, is a great addition, of course as you mention is a grindfest and PvE has a much higher impact than PvP (that's what we will be reviewing) but in overall people are more immersed in the game and provides some additional challenges to the top tier players, which is always something good and that's what we had in mind when we designed them.

Of course I'm not pointing out it's the final feature and that it has completly changed the game, we have a lot of room for improvements and we are almost done with the next big feature and already had plans for the next big one, all in all if we tune everything down it will end up being a very wide game with plenty of options to do that now (I agree with you all) doesn't provide, but trust me we are heading into that direction, we want to provide different features to make the playtime experience as changing as possible. At the moment we only have the platoons which just synergize the pve and pvp so I can understand your points, but remember before that we just had campaign only vs pvp, so game is growing little by little.

And now a question for you: How you feel about the gold you get from the Platoon weekly rewards? Do you feel is worth your time investment? it is low or is it too rewarding? I have the impression that it's a bit too much rewarding but wanted to hear what you think about that, at the moment is not big deal because as it is the main feature I'm fine with the results but when we start implementing additional features and ways to get rewards we may have to review that.

Before you ask the next big features that we will implement are:

- Daily Missions (coming up early next month)
- Platoon Raids (design in progress end of july or august)

Cheers and thanks again for this great feedback!

Yeh , I realize that like 2/3 of my posts were about how bad the impact of the platoons is for pvp^^
So last season I was complaining about the platoons killing the pvp player pool I guess.
This definetly has changed , it feels like the amount of active pvp players has increased.
Idk if its bc you modified the matchmaking or if it is bc the players base has increased...but getting matches is easier than before (although there are still phases of empty queues sometimes).

I guess the gold reward is too rewarding for big scorers.
Atm it is ~10% of your points and the percentage slightly decreases for every 10k you score I guess.
I think 10% for the first 10k is ok (so no changes for mediocre scorers).
But for the points above 10k 5% and for the points above 20k 2.5% might be enough , or something like that.

Cheers

P.S.: Out of a sudden a tear of joy was dripping on my desk when I read Platoon Raids :)
