As we mentioned during these days, we want to completely revamp the PvP system, these will be the key points the new Matchmaking System will have:
- The duration of each PvP Season is one month.
- Three different leagues: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
- Players start with 1000 PvP points (rating) and gain/lose points by playing PvP matches.
- PvP Points reset at the end of the Season to a value which will depend on the league the player ended at.
- Placement matches (for new players and first matches after the season resets) will give more PvP points.
- The matchmaking algorithm will only pair you with players in your league with similar PvP Points. There are some exceptions when promoting or demoting to a league (explained below)
This is the starting league, new players will be placed here and will start climbing (or descending) on the ladder.
- PvP Points range: 0-1500
- PvP Points on Start of the Season and after Season ends: 1000
When close to the 1500 PvP points threshold, the matchmaking will start serving you players from the next League (against players at the bottom of the Silver League ladder).
When more than 1500 PvP points have been reached you will need to play and win against an opponent from the Silver League to be promoted to that League.
The Silver League is the intermediate league, filled with experienced players.
- PvP Points range: 1500-2200
- PvP Points on Start of the Season and after Season ends: 1400
When close to the 2200 PvP points threshold, the matchmaking will start serving you players from the next League (against players at the bottom of the Gold League ladder).
When more than 2200 PvP points have been reached you will need to play and win against an opponent from the Gold League to be promoted to that League.
When close to the 1500 PvP points threshold, the matchmaking will start serving you players from the previous League (against players at the top of the Bronze League ladder).
If you reach less than 1450 PvP points against an opponent from the Bronze League you will be demoted to that league.
This league is considered the top league of the game for the highest rated players.
- PvP Points range: 2200 above
- PvP Points on Start of the Season and after Season ends: 2000
When close to the 2200 PvP points threshold, the matchmaking will start serving you players from the previous League (against players at the top of the Silver League ladder).
If you reach less than 2100 PvP points against an opponent from the Silver League you will be demoted to that league.
At the end of the season, rewards will be assigned depending on your current position on the ladder and the highest league that you obtained during the current season.
Reaching Bronze League will give you at least a chest of cards
Reaching Silver League will give you at least a chest of cards (with a chance of getting a Legendary card in it)
Reaching Gold League during the season will give you a chest of cards containing at least one Legendary card
These rewards will be obtained by all players that reached each league (it will not take into account the players positions at the end of the Season)
Other special rewards will be assigned depending on the exact position at the end of the season. The amount of gold, cards or exclusive rewards that you can obtain it's till not final so we prefer not to say anything about them yet, more info is coming soon.
We have added a new feature into the game, In the event of not having many concurrent players of your same rating and, to prevent having really long waiting times, the server will -from time to time- match you with an "offline" player deck, the AI will use any other eligible player deck.
It will use the player's decks that played PvP at least once within the last 3 months (the list has already been pre-populated by us with real data). The offline decks will always be automatically updated on the server as you play. We don't want to talk much about this feature since it's not fully squeezed, but we believe adding it into the Matchmaking formula it's a really good start and will for sure add some variety and fun.
While the Deck Value is a fair number to compare two opponents, it just can’t help us in a competitive leaderboard, it won’t work.
We will NOT create leagues by Deck Value or lock players on specific leagues, players should have the opportunity to challenge themselves and keep climbing the ladder.
We believe that progressing on PvP should be similar to other features in the game, a player can not expect to accomplish everything on a couple of weeks, the game just hasn't been designed like that. Also, we believe significantly improving the rewards on each league will give an extra motivation to play against stronger opponents.
We welcome and encourage anyone to give us some feedback about it as soon as it's out.
We would also take the chance to thank you for your patience and for providing us with lots of nice suggestions.
This feature will come live as soon as we release the next update (which should be within the month of June!), stay tuned!
